Consuming and pervading

free verse on monsters from within

A chair in green and white. I took the picture.

It’s like a

beast,

always hungry,

of an ancestral

hunger.

Consuming and pervading,

you need to breath.

It’s like a

monster

hanging over your stomach,

squeezing it

until the

last drop

of your vital fluids.

Consuming and pervading

you need

to stand still.

It’s like a mouth

in the desert,

bitter and dry.

Consuming and pervading,

you need to talk.

It’s like Medusa,

turning your throat

into a sand statue,

avoiding the air to

pass through.

Consuming and pervading,

you need to ground

your feet.

It’s like a demon

pushing your blood

to overreact

Consuming and pervading,

you want to die.

Its name is anxiety,

no reason to deny.
