7 things I have discovered about writing

  1. writing is an experience of solitude. you have to be prepared to face your best enemy ever: yourself.
  2. when you start writing you start telling about what you know. therefore do not hesitate to tell a story in first person.
  3. every writer posses his/her personal rhythm of writing. So do not blame yourself if “today-I’m-not-so-keen-on-writing”: words are just composing and ascending from your heart to your brain. maybe you belong to the do-not-stop-me-now writers. maybe not. but be sure your gift is still inside you.
  4. the importance of being consistent. not to be considered as a boundary, but to consider it as the urgency of telling your story.
  5. your personal dark side. do not be ashamed of discovering in your writing process your writing dark side as you are going deep inside yourself and as Murakami said (e.g. the art of fiction)
  6. writing is a process of knowledge. the right word. the right plot. the right connections. so take a pen and start.
  7. writing is a scaring process. the most scared fears is to fail and to succeed, but you know, writing is something you have inside yourself. maybe you are a novelist or a short stories guru (above all when do not like short stories). maybe you are a scriptwriter/screenplayer. it is just you. simply.

along this path you will understand that “one of the hardest things in life to laern is which bridges to cross and which bridges to burn”.
